Spain and Mexico will contest the FIFA Under-17 Women's World Cup final after both nations came through their last four clashes in Uruguay today.

The Spanish defeated New Zealand 2-0 and Mexico edged Canada 1-0 as both semi-finals took place at the Estadio Charrúa in Montevideo. 

Neither winning side has won the tournament before so a new name is guaranteed on the trophy.

Spain skipper Claudia Pina gave her side the lead after the 39th minute, firing home after Hannah Mackay-Wright's clearance to score he fifth goal of the tournament.

The second arrived shortly after the restart with Irene López scoring one of the goals of the competition so far.

She connected with a wonderful half volley which found the corner as Spain reached a second final after losing to Japan in 2014.

Mexico scored their only goal from the penalty spot as Nicole Pérez made no mistake after 25 minutes.

The final is due to be played at Estadio Charrúa on Saturday (December 1).
