Mexico and Canada completed the semi-final line-up at the FIFA Under-17 Women's World Cup as both came through their quarter-final ties in Uruguay.

The Canadians scored a dramatic late goal to knock out Germany 1-0 at the Estadio Charrúa in Montevideo.

Captain Jordyn Huitema was on hand to fire home from close range with 83 minutes on the clock.

Their reward is a clash with Mexico, who defeated Ghana 4-2 on penalties after a thrilling 2-2 draw.

All of the goals arrived in the second half with Mukarama Abdulai heading in her seventh of the tournament for the African side shortly after the restart.

Nicole Perez levelled from the spot for the Mexicans just after the hour mark after Elizabeth Oppong was adjudged to have tripped substitute Nayeli Diaz.

Ghana re-took the lead when Suzzy Teye smashed in at the near post after 75 minutes before Perez showed her dead ball ability again with a superb free-kick equaliser eight minutes from time.

There is no extra time being contested at this tournament so the game went straight to penalties, with Justice Tweneboaa and Oppong missing for Ghana as all four Mexican players kept their cool.

Both semi-finals are due to place on Wednesday (November 28) at the Estadio Charrúa.

Canada and Mexico will meet with New Zealand playing Spain.

A new name on the trophy is guaranteed.
