Sweden earned gold at Finland's expense for a third successive year at the Under-19 Women's Floorball World Championships held in Switzerland, winning the final 7-2.

Finland's hopes were raised by an early goal from Julia Wouvalin in the concluding match of the International Floorball Federation event, co-hosted by St Gallen and Herisau.

But it took only ten minutes for the Swedish team which had scored 66 goals en-route to the final, and conceded just six, to draw level through Cajsa Elm.

The match tipped just before the break when Finland gifted their opponents a penalty shot which Frida Swahn converted.

Shortly after the break, Lisa Svarfvar made it 3-1 to the defending champions, and although Jasmiina Jarvinen halved the deficit soon afterwards, that was the high mark of the Finnish effort.

Sweden pulled away through further goals from most valuable player Ellen Backstedt, who contributed two, Wilma Johansson and Swahn completing her own double.

Bronze went to the Czech Republic, who earned a 3-1 win over Poland.
