The International Floorball Federation are celebrating the third edition of International Floorball Day as part of its 30th anniversary.

The IFF was founded by the floorball associations of Finland, Sweden and Switzerland in the Swedish city of Huskvarna 32 years ago today.

Since then, the IFF claim that there are now 350,000 licensed players across the world with 68 Member Associations - Croatia are the latest addition to that list.

The IFF are also planning to use today’s anniversary to look back on 2017, a historic year for the sport when the IFF announced their new identity strategy in a bid to modernise their brand in the new media age, including the introduction of a new logo.

"There has been a burning need to modernise the IFF logo and update the IFF Event Corporate Identity, to match the requirements of the world of today," said IFF secretary general John Liljelund said.

"We are very proud of our dynamic new logo and believe it will increase the awareness of the sport.

"I would like to thank Czech Floorball for the cooperation in the process of finding for producing the new logo, which is very versatile and user-friendly and represents our growing sports uniqueness."

Last year also saw floorball be part of the multi-sport event The World Games for the first time as an official sport.

"A modern, dynamic sport which tries to approach the spectators with a suitable sport presentation and in addition to activities for the spectators around the tournament," International World Games Association chief executive Joachim Gossow said.

"The IFF is also a very active and progressive Federation pertaining to the use of modern technology and media rescores to promote their sport."
