Defending champion Ng On Yee reached the semi-finals of the Women's World Snooker Championships without dropping a frame in Malta today.

The 27-year-old from Hong Kong, currently world number one, maintained her winning run with a 4-0 quarter-final win over Belgium's Wendy Jans.

On the other side of the draw at the Dolmen Hotel in St Pauls Bay, 32-year-old Reanne Evans of England remains on course for a 12th world title.

Like Ng she had reached the knock-out phase with a flawless record from her first three matches, but she dropped one frame in winning 4-1 against Laura Evans of Wales to book her semi-final place.

There she will meet fellow English player Maria Catalano, a 4-1 quarter-final winner over Thailand's 18-year-old Nutcharat Wongharuthal.

The event is taking place alongside the first World Snooker Federation World Championships and concludes tomorrow.

The victor in the women's competition, where the prize fund is €6,000 (£5,300/$7,300), will also secure a place in qualifying for the World Snooker Championship.
