Defending champion Jeremy Henry continued his strong start to the Bowls World Cup by earning another victory at the Warilla Bowls and Recreation Club.

The Australian claimed two wins on the opening day of the tournament and continued his form today.

He emerged as a 10-5, 13-8 winner against Hong Kong's CT Wong to maintain the lead in section one of the men's event.

He currently boasts 12 points, with Matt Le Ber of Guernsey lying in second place on nine points.

Australia’s David Ferguson remains the leader in section two, after claiming three straights wins.

Ferguson beat Clive McGreal of the Isle of Man 18-5, 7-6 today.

He then beat Matu Bazo of Papua New Guinea 10-4, 15-4, which saw him move to 12 points in the standings.

New Zealand's defending champion Jo Edwards claimed a win in the women’s event, as she beat Canada’s Pricilla Westlake 9-5, 17-3.

Edwards lies second in the section two standings, which are led by Scotland’s Kay Moran on nine points.

Australia’s Bec Van Asch leads the section one standings, following two wins today.

She first overcame Loa Babona of Papua New Guinea 13-5, 13-6, before overcoming South Africa’s Colleen Piketh 9-8, 7-6.

The tournament continues tomorrow and runs until March 14.
