The official app of the Moscow Metro will have information in six languages during the upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The Metro Moskvy app, translated as Moscow Metro, will also give users information about matches and travel advice during the tournament.

A statement on the official website for the Mayor of Moscow, Sergey Sobyanin, said: "There will be a special 2018 World Cup section on the Moscow Metro app where users will be able to read brief information about stadiums, look up their contact details and find the most convenient route to the stadium.

"The service will also feature results from earlier matches as well as timetables for future matches.

"The plan is to have the app in six foreign languages: English, French, Spanish, Chinese, German and Portuguese."

The app will also contain information about the number of free seats on trains along with the number of bicycles available to rent from racks around the city.

Additionally, the app, available on the App Store and Google Play, will provide audio excursions of central Moscow.

The 2018 World Cup will take place in 11 different host cities across Russia from June 14 to July 15.
