American Lindsey Jacobellis came out on top at the International Ski Federation Snowboard World Cup in Val Thorens, to stretch her lead at the top of the World Cup standings.

The 32-year-old finished ahead of second-placed French snowboarder Chloé Trespeuch with Italian Michaela Moioli coming in third.

Another US rider Faye Gulini came in third, with Bulgarian Alexandra Jekova fourth and Charlotte Bankes, of France, fifth.

Jacobellis leads the current standings with 2,800 points ahead of Trespeuch with 2,400 points, Gulini with 1,310 points and Bankes with 1,250 points.

Moioli with happy with her podium finish.

"I started very well in the final, then I was not fast and on the non-technical side the opponents recovered," she said. 

"I tried to push anyway, because I had the chance to recover even though I had already done a lot of runs on a track for a minute and a half. 

"Overall I'm quite satisfied. 

"I felt good, already during qualifying I was in front of everyone, then in the race we know that things change.

"Between me, Jacobellis and Trespeusch is open challenge to every race. 

"We are always there and next time I will try to change positions on the podium."

In the men's event Germany's Paul Berg came out on top, ahead of Australia's Adam Lambert and Spain's Lucas Eguibar.

Fourth place went to Germany's Konstantin Schad,  fifth was Italy's Emanuel Perathoner and sixth was Australian Alex Pullin.

It means that Pullin retains the overall lead in the World Cup standings with Lambert second with 1,320 points and Perathoner third with 1,282 points.

The World Cup moves to the Austrian slopes of Montafon on Sunday (December 17).
