The sports were not included as part of the original sport programme set out by Lausanne 2020 during the bidding stage for the third edition of the winter event, where the Olympic Capital comfortably saw off the challenge of Brasov in Romania.

Luge and skeleton featured at Lillehammer 2016 earlier this year, while monobob races for boys and girls were also present on the programme.

Ian Logan, Lausanne 2020's chief executive, has confirmed they are working with International Federations (IFs) to come up with a solution which would allow for the sports to be featured at the Games.

"In the Bidding Committee for Lausanne 2020 it was not in," Logan told insidethegames here.

"There was no bobsleigh, no sledge, no luge.

"We are now looking at opportunities, we actually have two options from here.

"La Plagne in France and St Moritz in Switzerland.

"I hope we can find a good solution and we are discussing it with both IFs."

La Plagne is around 150 kilometres south of Lausanne, while St Mortiz is 430 kilometres away from the Olympic Capital but is still in the same country.

Lausanne are also set to use the Tuffes Nordic Stadium, located across the border in France, for ski jumping, biathlon and Nordic combined events.

The overall budget for the Games in 2020 stands at $42 million (£29 million/€38 million).

Lausanne 2020’s foundation plan and concept is due to be assessed during the first International Olympic Committee (IOC) Coordination Commission meeting, which is taking place here today and tomorrow.

Logan has stated that Lausanne 2020 has spoken with governing bodies in recent months and there remains the possibility for new disciplines to be included at the Games.

"I have spoken to all of them at different stages and we all still discussing what we can do," he said.

"We have the sports and disciplines which were in Lillehammer and we do discuss opportunities regarding the 2020 Agenda recommendations.

"We look at maybe doing something new."
