Hong Kong's athletes' career and education programme is to hold an exhibition to help assist their athletes' transition from a sporting career into the workforce.

Designed to help athletes coming towards or at the end of their careers, the inaugural exhibition with involve a series of activities.

The event is due to take place at Hong Kong’s Olympic House in So Kon Po on October 16, with proceedings running for seven hours.

An Opening Ceremony will also be held, with the exhibition scheduled to start at 10am local time.

The initiative is the latest offering from the programme, which was launched by the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong in 2008.

It is claimed to have benefited more than 1,000 athletes since its inception, and is credited with helping them to develop life skills and gain education and job opportunities following their retirements.

The exhibition is set to include seminars on a series of topics, while there will also be workshops and promotional booths which the athletes can visit and take part in.

A jobs hub will also be established on the day, giving athletes further information about a potential future career.

The programme has targeted both active and retired athletes, as well as National Sports Associations, students and parents.
