London 2012_velodrome_from_air_November_20_2011November 21 - London 2012 have revealed that tickets for the diving, gymnastics and track cycling test events, which went on sale last Thursday (November 17), all went just hours after being made available to the public.

The UCI Track Cycling World Cup, the track cycling test event, was the fastest of the three competitions to sell-out with all tickets going within 30 minutes.

It was unsurprising given that UCI Track Cycling World Cup, which will be presented by Samsung, will be the first opportunity for the likes of Olympic champions Sir Chris Hoy and Victoria Pendleton to compete in the for the event at the Velodrome on the Olympic Park in Stratford from February 16 until 19.

This was closely followed by the FINA Diving World Cup 2012, the diving test event, with tickets going within 90 minutes.

The competition, which is likely to feature Britain's teenage Olympic gold medal prospect Tom Daley, will be the last opportunity for athletes to qualify for the individual and synchronised diving events at London 2012 and will take place at the Aquatics Centre on the Olympic Park from February 20 until 26.

The gymnastics test event was the last of the three to sell out even though all tickets for it were sold by the end of the day.

Beth Tweddle_on_uneven_bars_World_Championships_Tokyo_October_2011The competition at the North Greenwich Arena, as will be called during the London 2012 Games before reverting back to the O2 Arena, could see the likes of the triple world champion Beth Tweddle (pictured) in action while it also acts as official qualification tournament for the Olympics.

The event will take place from January 10 until 18 and will be split into three areas - artistic, trampoline and rhythmic gymnastics.

"Tickets for the gymnastics, track cycling and diving test events went on general sale on Thursday 17 November and as expected sold out very quickly," a London 2012 spokesperson told insidethegames.

"This is a boost for each of the sports and the athletes preparing for London 2012 and a clear indication of the demand to see world class sport in 2012 venues."

But despite the fact that there was disappointment for those that missed out, London 2012 confirmed that more tickets for the test event may be released in the near future and that there will be six further ticketed test events next year with tickets likely to go on sale for them in January.

"More tickets [for the gymnastics, track cycling and diving test events] may be released closer the competition when all event details have been finalised," said the London 2012 spokesperson.

"There are limited wheelchair spaces still available for all three sports.

"Six further ticketed test events will take place next Spring with tickets on sale in the New Year."

Tickets for cycling sold for between £10 ($16/€12) and £40 ($63/€46), tickets for diving went for between £5 ($8/€6) and £30 ($47/€36) while tickets for gymnastics were purchased for between £5 ($8/€6) to £20 ($31/€23).

The tickets were sold on a first come, first served basis from London 2012 official ticket provider Ticketmaster.

But they were so hard to get that even some of the top athletes missed out, including Olympic team pursuit champion Geraint Thomas.

The 25-year-old star from Cardiff, who will be looking to defend the team pursuit crown he won at Beijing 2008 in London, has been forced to resort to his 48,000 Twitter followers to try and get some tickets for his family and friends for both the test event in February and also the Olympics in August.

"Just found out I have no tickets for London WC [the London 2012 track cycling test event], let alone the Olympics.

"Anybody got some for Sunday and can't/don't want to go???"
