Waterloo BridgeOctober 15 - Waterloo Bridge could be turned Brazilian during next year's Olympics, London Mayor Boris Johnson has revealed.


Johnson has held talks with Rio de Janeiro State Governor Sergio Cabral to disccus the Bridge being decorated by organisers of the 2016 Olympics part of its residence at Somerset House, which is located just east of Waterloo Bridge.

Rio Olympic organisers signed a deal in August 2010 with the Somerset House Trust to set-up its Olympic House there during London 2012. 

"We want to help Rio and Brazil get the most out of promoting their city and country to the world during their time here for the London Games when the focus of the world will be on this famous capital," said Johnson. 

Cabraal was delighted with the outcome of the meeting with Johnson.

"We had a good conversation with Mayor Boris Johnson," he said.

"We discussed having a show of lights on images and images on Waterloo Bridge, which is a connection to Casa Brazil at Somerset House. 

"More than five million people will see it during the Games.

"It is an extraordinary opportunity to spread Rio and Brazil to the world.

"Mayor Johsnon is totally supportive of the project."
