The inaugural UC Sports Week, held from 8-14 April, was a triumphant celebration of sportsmanship and collaboration at this FISU Healthy Campus Platinum University.

Organised by Desporto UC, the University of Coimbra (UC) took the opportunity to pioneer a week-long event dedicated to the promotion of sport and its many benefits. The aim of the initiative was to extend the reach of sport into the various departments and services of the UC, linking it to different areas of knowledge.

The festivities kicked off on Monday with a press conference to announce the start of the event. Figures such as the Magnificent Rector of the University of Coimbra, Amílcar Falcão, as well as representatives from the academic and municipal spheres, graced the occasion.

At the same time, Polo II buzzed with intellectual fervour as researchers presented their innovative projects at a conference and practical exhibition on technology in sport.

On Tuesday, Polo III was the epicentre of engaging discussions, with roundtable discussions on topics ranging from the participation of UC students in the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games to the indispensable role of medical teams at major sporting events. Moderated by renowned personalities, the discussions highlighted the intersection of sport, science and professional practice.
