Latvia and Azerbaijan earn tickets to the FIBA 3x3 Olympics in Paris. FIBA

Latvia's men and Azerbaijan's women won the FIBA 3x3 Universality 2024 Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Hong Kong, China, to book their places at the Paris Olympics.

Latvia, the defending men's Olympic champion, booked a berth to the Olympics with a 14-19 victory over Austria in Hong Kong, led by a great performance from Nauris Miezis, who scored five points and grabbed seven rebounds to be named the event's MVP and book a ticket to Paris.

In the women's final, Azerbaijan eked out a thrilling 18-17 win over Poland, with Tiffany Hayes leading the way with 6 points. Hayes was awarded MVP honours after an outstanding performance, scoring 32 points in total and showing exceptional playmaking skills for her team throughout the tournament.

Latvia qualified for the Paris Olympics alongside the USA, Serbia and China in the men's category, based on the FIBA 3x3 Federation ranking. Azerbaijan also qualified for the Paris Olympics in the women's category alongside China, the USA and France.


Latvia took the top spot, followed by Austria in second. The Netherlands were third, with New Zealand and Switzerland rounding off the top five. Egypt, Mongolia and Hong Kong, China completed the list of participating teams.

Azerbaijan topped the women's standings, with Poland second. The Netherlands were third, followed by Hungary and Egypt in fourth and fifth respectively. Chile, Mongolia and Hong Kong, China completed the list of participating teams. The next FIBA 3x3 Universality Qualifying Tournament is scheduled to take place in Utsunomiya, Japan, on 3-5 May.
