The groups for the first ever 3v3 World Championship have been announced. It will take place in Lahti, Finland and will bring together 44 teams. It will share the stage, the Lahti Sports & Fair Centre, with the Women's U19 Floorball World Championship. The opening ceremony will take place on 8 May and the competition will end on 12 May.

Dates and pairings for some of floorball's most important competitions have been announced. Last week, the groups for the Men's and Women's 3v3 World Floorball Championships were announced.

A total of 44 teams have registered for the inaugural edition of this unique speciality, which continues to attract more and more fans and followers. There will be 30 men's teams and 14 women's teams.

The Opening Ceremony will take place on Wednesday, 8 May. As the following day is Family Day and Friday 10 May is National Sports Club Day, the competitions will be held on Saturday and Sunday, 11 and 12 May. The event will take place at the Lahti Sports & Fair Centre, Finland, in conjunction with the Women's U19 World Floorball Championship.

It will be a week in which floorball will be strengthened with an event that will bring together the young talents of the new generations growing up with the discipline, with the best U19 players, as well as a test to check the appeal of 3v3 floorball, even more dynamic, faster and more eye-catching. Floorball is a team sport played indoors.

The rules of floorball are very similar to those of ice hockey with some obvious differences. Five countries - Norway, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Finland and Switzerland - have dominated the sport at international level since the International Floorball Federation (IFF) was founded in 1986. Finland is one of the powerhouses of the discipline. It will host this first 3v3 World Championship.

The main international competition is the World Cup, which has been held in even-numbered years for men since 1996 and in odd-numbered years for women since 1997. So there will be a World Championship in 2024 and last week the first pairings and match schedules for the competition were announced.

The match schedule for the 2024 Men's World Floorball Championship has been released. The 15th Men's WFC will take place from 7-15 December 2024 at the Malmรถ Arena and Baltic Hall in Malmรถ, Sweden.

The global event will once again be hosted by a Nordic country. Sweden are the reigning champions of the 2022 World Cup, after beating the Czech Republic 9-3 in the final in Switzerland. Finland defeated hosts Switzerland 5-3 to become the defending champions, having won the title in the 2018 edition.

In the women's competition, Sweden also won the last World Championship. They beat Finland 6-4. As predicted, the Scandinavians came to Singapore with one goal in mind: to prove to the world that they have dominated the sport since their first title in 2003. Since then, they have won 11 gold medals, nine in a row, and one silver.
