In the men's single sculls final on Lake Tunis in Tunisia, five of the six boats qualified for the Games leaving Ivorian Riccardo Bouehi missing out after he finished last.

The race was won by Egypt's Abdelkhalek Elbanna who repeated his victory from 2019 where he also won the African Qualification Regatta for Tokyo 2020.

His time of 7min 1.78sec put him ahead of Tunisian Mohamed Taieb and Algeria's Sid Ali Boudina by 4.59 and 11.39, respectively.

Zimbabwe's Stephen Cox and Andre Matias of Angola clinched the remaining qualification spots.

The women's single sculls final saw Nihed Benchadli of Algeria take gold in 7:58:04.

South African Courtney Westley and Egypt's Ghada Ibrahim rounded out the top three while Ugandan Kathleen Grace Noble in fourth qualified.

Togo's Akoko Komlanvi qualified in sixth place, although fifth-placed athlete Sarra Zameli of Tunisia did not make it due to World Rowing rules that National Olympic Committees that did not qualify a boat at the 2023 World Rowing Championships could only qualify two boats through the African continental qualification regatta.

Instead a place went to B final winner Majdouline Elallaoui of Morocco.

The lightweight women's double sculls, which is set to be omitted from the programme after Paris 2024, was won by Tunisians Selma Dhaouadi and Khadija Krimi in 7:17.68.

They beat Nourelhoda Arafa and Maryam Abdellatif of Egypt by 3.10 while Algeria's Feriel Zitouni and Chaimaa Hellal Berrouane clocked in after 7:50.58.

The sole lightweight men's double sculls place went to Mohamed Kota and Ahmed Abdelaal of Egypt as they finished ahead of Tunisian opponents Ghaith Kadri and Mohamed Khalil Mansouri by 3.97 in 6:36.56.

The PR1 women's single sculls was won by Asiya Mohamed Sururu of Kenya.

The 12:44.46 performance ensured her ticket to a second Paralympic Games.

Tunisia's Maher Rahmani clinched the PR1 men's single sculls qualification spot as he finished the course in a leading 10:22.68.

In the new Paralympic boat class, the PR3 mixed double sculls, the gold medal and quota place went to Ali Elzieny and Marwa Abdelaall.

The Egyptians recorded a winning time of 9:16.64.

The rowers won quota places for their National Olympic Committees, not themselves, and will have to rely on the bodies nominating them to take the spots next year in the French capital.
