International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach has praised the Olympic Committee of Brazil (COB) for setting up the Brazil House at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games, saying it will give the right visibility for athletes from the country.

Bach visited Brazil House facilities in Santiago aimed at promoting the culture, gastronomy, and sports of the nation.

COB chief Paulo Wanderley Teixeira, Sports Minister André Fufuca and the Secretary of International Relations of São Paulo, Marta Suplicy, were among those present to welcome the German official.

Discussions centred around Brazil's target for the Games in the Chilean capital and the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics.

"This visit demonstrates his affection for Brazil and COB. It was unprecedented what happened this morning because it is rare for the IOC President to pay a visit to a specific environment of an Olympic Committee," said Wanderley.

"What made it easier is that Brazil House is the only space with these characteristics to welcome athletes, fans, and family members in the Santiago Pan American Games. So, his coming here was very special for us."

Bach said the structure set up in partnership with the city of São Paulo is impressive, highlighting the COBCast studio, which will help with the daily special programme of the Olympic Channel of Brazil during Santiago 2023.

COBCast goes live every day during the Pan American Games thanks to presenters Fernando Nardini and Beth Romero.

Brazil is fourth on the medals table, having won 49 overall so far, including 11 gold, 18 silver and 20 bronzes.

The Pan American Games is scheduled to run until November 5.
