Miami won their first title of the year by beating Vienna 22-19 in the final of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) 3x3 World Tour in Cebu.

The fourth seeds had Jimmer Fredette, with three two-pointers, to thank for their win.

Havin failed to reach a final in previous editions, Miami started the final on the front foot, racing to a 4-1 lead.

However, Matthias Linortner took control since and helped Vienna level the scores.

After the Fredette show, Canyon Barry joined Fredette in making life harder for Vienna.

Meanwhile, Fredette finished the final with nine points, four rebounds and two highlights, earning him the Most Valuable Player (MVP) title.

Miami defeated Ub Huishan NE 21-13 in the semi-finals and San Juan 21-17 in the quarter-finals.

It was also a first Word Tour title for a team from the United States since Princeton won in 2019.

For Vienna, who won the World Tour title last year, it has been a tough start to the year.

They are yet to win a trophy in 2023, but their run of games in Cebu - unbeaten until the final - indicates a change in form.

The next leg of the FIBA 3x3 World Tour is scheduled from October 6 to 7 in Amsterdam.
