Marks got the better of Caitlin Simmers in a low-scoring, all-American final in the women's competition in Teahupo'o which is also due to stage surfing at next year's Games.

She picked up a score of 9.23 to comfortably beat her compatriot's 3.94 total.

"Yeah, the waves got really tricky," Marks said, but will have to fight against Simmers again for her place at Paris 2024.

"But this is a dream event to win, so I'm super pumped!"

It marks her second win of the regular season after also triumphing at the El Salvador Pro at Surf City to leave her third place in the rankings on 59,870 points.

She is joined by Stephanie Gilmore of Australia and American Lakey Peterson, although the trio will not compete at the season finals in California from September 8 to 16.

In addition to Marks, Simmers, Australians Tyler Wright and Molly Picklum, and Hawaii's Carissa Moore are set to battle for the title in Lower Trestles.

Simmers or Marks will qualify along with reigning world and Olympic champion Carissa Moore on Team USA depending on their final ranking after the Finals at Lower Trestles in San Clemente.

The top 10 men and eight women at the end of this year's WSL rankings will take the first 18 of 48 spots available for Olympics, with a maximum of two spots per gender, per country.

Brazilian Tatiana Weston-Webb is set to compete at the Olympic Games for a second time as she secured the final qualification place in eighth position overall.

Robinson's win in the men's event saw him sneak into the top five on 43,950 points, just 730 ahead of Gabriel Medina.

He beat the Brazilian in a thrilling Tahiti final to leapfrog him in the standings.

The Australian picked up 15.66 points to prevail by just 0.66 and secure the maximum of 10,000 towards his season total.

He is also safe in terms of Olympic qualification alongside countryman Ethan Ewing.
