The 22-year-old Reilly put together a sensational second run which saw him amass 95.80 points at Glasgow Green.

Following the completion of his two attempts, Reilly then had a nervous wait in store as the rest of the field finished their turns.

Rain prolonged the men's event before Australia's Olympic champion Logan Martin and 2022 world champion Rimu Nakamura of Japan had taken their second runs.

Nakamura put in a disappointing showing on his first attempt, with a score of just 38.00 leaving him far down the standings.

A much better 91.87 was still not good enough to see him finish on the podium, narrowly missing out to American Nick Bruce.

Bruce claimed the bronze on 93.90 while Martin's 95.30 saw him take silver.

"This is just next level," Reilly said.

"It was a stressful half an hour waiting to find out where I was sat.

"It's just amazing.

"It's rare you come off a course 100 per cent proud but that's a run that I will remember forever.

"I left it all on the course."

In the women's event, Roberts then delivered with a stunning routine to leapfrog five Chinese riders that had taken the top spots after their first runs.

The Tokyo 2020 silver medallist scored 91.04 in her first 60-second outing which was enough to triumph.

China's Sun Sibei and Zhou Huimin scored 89.10 and 87.90 respectively, to win silver and bronze.

It was a day to forget for Britain's Olympic champion Charlotte Worthington who finished down in seventh place with 76.70 points.

The country fared differently in track cycling however as Ethan Vernon triumphed ahead of Canadian Dylan Bibic and Italy's Elia Viviani in the men's elimination race at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome.

Despite crashing, Vernon got back up and put in a blistering performance to take a remarkable victory.

Vernon's compatriots Neah Evans and Elinor Barker then combined to win the women's madison with 28 points.

They beat Australians Georgia Baker and Alexandra Manly, and Frenchwomen Victoire Berteau and Clara Copponi with respective totals of 25 and 22.

Dutchman Harrie Lavreysen got the better of Trinidad and Tobago's Nicholas Paul with marginal wins in both races in the men's sprint final.

Britain's Jack Carlin completed the podium with a win against Mateusz Rudyk of Poland.
