Kałucka clinched women’s speed gold at Kraków-Małopolska 2023 two weeks ago before continuing her fine form to win the same event at the World Cup in Swiss town Villars.

The Pole sealed victory in 6.55sec after beating Emma Hunt of the United States in the final race.

"I’m really proud of myself," said Kałucka.

"I want to say thanks to my team.

"I can’t really believe that I’ve won my first World Cup gold.

"I’ve won lots of World Cup medals but never a gold until now."

Hunt had earlier in the day set a Pan American record of 6.68 in qualification but couldn’t replicate that in the decision race, clocking 8.37.

China’s Deng Lijuan won the bronze medal after finishing in 6.55 compared to Italy’s Beatrice Colli who registered 7.10.

Long Jianguo defeated Zhang Liang in an all-Chinese men’s speed final.

The pressure got to Zhang as he fell to hand the gold medal to Long who finished in 5.26 to retain the title.

"I feel so lucky and happy because last year I won gold here as well, so Villars is definitely my lucky place," said Long.

"I’m so happy.

"I hope that when I go to the World Championships it will go easily and smoothly, a bit like today and I can qualify for the Paris Olympics."

The bronze medal was won by Japan’s Ryo Omasa who notched 5.30 while American Sam Watson fell, forcing him to settle for fourth.

Slovenian star Janja Garnbret claimed her seventh women’s lead gold in a row as she was the only climber to top the route in the finals.

It was also the reigning Olympic champion’s 25th lead World Cup gold medal and 40th medal across all disciplines.

"It feels incredible,” said Garnbret.

"I’ve always loved Villars.

"I’ve always love coming here and I feel a bit like it’s my competition and it’s home here.

"After Innsbruck, I felt confident and I can see m lead shape I there.

"I have been climbing with confidence and that’s how I have climbed in the finals here."

Jessica Pilz of Austria backed up her bronze medal in Innsbruck with a silver medal in Villars after reaching the 43rd hold.

Brooke Raboutou of the United States reached 43 and timed out as she claimed bronze.

Austria’s Jakob Schubert won his 20th lead World Cup gold and 23rd medal across all disciplines to make him the men’s all-time record holder.

Schubert made it to hold 42 to beat long-time rival and friend Adam Ondra of the Czech Republic.

Ondra reached 41 for silver, while Germany’s Alexander Megos secured bronze after making 40.

"Going against these old guys and the youngsters, it was amazing to come out on top today," said Schubert.

"It also feels amazing to be on the podium with two great friends.

"We were discussing if this is the oldest podium.

"The old guys dominated today."
