Maikel Van Der Vleuten of the Netherlands took victory and extended his overall championship lead at the latest Global Champions Tour Grand Prix leg in Cannes, France.

A high-quality competition saw 13 riders record clear rounds during the first stage and progress to a jump-off.

Van Der Vleuten, riding Beauville Z N.O.P, was last to go in the jump-off, and registered a time of 39.37 seconds, claiming victory by half a second thanks to a flat-out gallop to the final fence which he risked all and cleared.

With the win, Van Der Vleuten booked his ticket to the Global Champions Tour Super Grand Prix Prague Playoffs later in the year.

Second place went to Belgium’s Pieter Devos, riding Mom’s Toupie De La Roque, in 39.92.

Ireland’s Michael Duffy completed the podium, onboard Cinca 3, in a time of 40.15.
