Demonstrators against the French Government’s proposed pension reform have protested outside the headquarters of Paris 2024 during the latest visit of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Coordination Commission to the city.

Video footage showed protesters chanting slogans before walking through the lobby of the Organising Committee's premises into an internal court yard.

The demonstration had been called by the General Confederation of Workers (CGT).

A number of Metro lines in Paris were closed as a result of industrial action in connection with the protests.

The demonstration, which was part of a city-wide campaign by the CGT, took place as the IOC Coordination Commission continued their penultimate visit to the city before the Games.

It is not yet clear whether any members of the Commission witnessed the demonstration, although security is thought to have been discussed by the IOC group during the visit.

IOC Coordination Commission chairman Pierre-Olivier Beckers-Vieujant has warned that there is still "a lot of work to do" in the 416 days remaining before the Olympic Games begin.

In the course of three days in Paris, the IOC party was expected to view progress on the Aquatics Centre at St Denis, where last month protesters against the pension changes had blockaded the site.

"It is important to be here, together, to continue to confirm the way in which we all wanted to work in the preparation of the Games," Beckers-Vieujant said.

"The objective is to make this Games unique and make history, so that they will be a turning point for the Olympic Movement."

Paris 2024 President Tony Estanguet insisted that the Games were on track.

"We are where we wanted to be a few years ago," Estanguet confirmed.

"We have advanced in an incredible manner and have succeeded in that the ambition is always toward the goal."

The Paris 2024 Olympics are scheduled to open on July 26.
