The 2023 Pacific Games are due to be held from November 19 to December 2 this year, featuring 24 countries.

Solomon Islands is due to host its first ever Pacific Games this year.

The multi-sport event has led to the postponement of the general election in the island nation, with critics claiming it was a power grab move from Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare, whose term was extended beyond the constitutional limit of four years because of its postponement until 2024.
