The United States' Olympic champion Kaillie Humphries underlined her domination of the women's monobob discipline at the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) World Cup, winning the final event of the season in Sigulda to clinch the Crystal Globe.

Humphries became the first overall winner since the discipline joined the IBSF World Cup programme with her fourth win of the season in the Latvian resort.

The three-time Olympic gold medallist was quickest on both runs on the Sigulda bobsleigh, luge and skeleton track, clocking a track record time of 52.87sec followed by a 53.74 to finish in 1min 46.52sec.

Kim Kalicki climbed from sixth to second with a 53.08 followed by a 53.88 to finish in 1:46.96, while there was a tie for third between China's Ying Qing and Canada's Cynthia Appiah on 1:47.10.

Ying was second after the first run with a time of 52.98 and held on with 54.12 on the second, while Appiah notched times of 53.01 and 54.12.

Humphries finished the season on 1,712 points, followed by world champion Laura Nolte of Germany, who ended on 1,590 after a sixth-place finish in Sigulda.

Appiah completed the overall podium on 1,506.

World champion Johannes Lochner of Germany moved closer to winning the two-man bobsleigh Crystal Globe with his fifth consecutive victory on the circuit.

Competing with pusher Georg Fleischhauer, Lochner led the way with a 49.74sec first run, followed by a 50.63 second effort to finish in 1:40.37.

It was a German one-two-three as four-time Olympic gold medallist Francesco Friedrich and Alexander Schüller clocked 49.88 and 50.85 to finish in 1:40.37, while Maximilian Illman and Joshue Tasche finished third after a superb 50.58 for the quickest time on the second runs, following on from a 50.17 for a total time of 1:40.75.

Lochner extended his lead over Friedrich to 71 points on 1,517, while Brad Hall of Britain is third on 1,390 after a fifth-place finish with Taylor Lawrence.

The IBSF World Cup season is due to conclude in Sigulda tomorrow with the final two-man and two-woman events.
