Just five minutes later the lead had been doubled courtesy of Valverde before Moussa Marega pulled one back for the Saudi Arabian side in the 26^th minute.

Doubles from Gabriel Barbosa and Pedro saw Flamengo beat Al Ahly 4-2 in the third place playoff at the Tangier Stadium.

Barbosa struck first after 11 minutes from the penalty spot following Ali Maaloul's foul on Guillermo Varela.

Al Ahly then got a foothold in the game and after sustained pressure they scored a 37th-minute equaliser as Maaloul's corner was met by a powerful Ahmed Abdel Kader header.

Abdel Kader then put the Egyptians in front 15 minutes into the second half with a wonder goal where he evaded three challenges before placing it into the bottom corner.

Flamengo were not out of it though as Pedro slotted home to capitalise on goalkeeper Mohammed El-Shenawy's fumble.

Barbosa then converted another spot kick in the 85^th minute shortly before Pedro put the nail in the coffin with a rifled effort from another defensive error.
