Men's defending champions Britain and Paralympic gold medallists the United States have been drawn in the same group for the delayed International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) World Championships in Dubai.

The 2022 World Championships was moved to June 9 to 20 this year to avoid a clash with the FIFA World Cup in Qatar held in November and December last year.

The draws for the men's and women's tournaments were conducted at the Dubai Sports Council.

The men's competition features four groups of four teams.

Group D looks extremely competitive, featuring three of the four semi-finalists from the 2018 edition in Hamburg.

Britain, the US and Iran are joined by Iraq.

Hosts the United Arab Emirates are set to play Australia, Italy and Brazil in Group A.

Group B features Egypt, Germany, Canada and Thailand, while Group C includes The Netherlands, Argentina, South Korea and France.

The women's World Championship begins with two groups of six.

Reigning world and Paralympic champions The Netherlands are in Group A with Tokyo 2020 bronze medallists the US, Algeria, Thailand, Japan and Germany.

The 2018 runners-up Britain and Tokyo 2020 silver medallists China were drawn in Group B with Brazil, Canada, Australia and Spain.

The top four in both women's groups are set to advance to the knockout stage, with group stage results acting as seeding for last 16 matches in the men's tournament.
