Japan were dominant on the final day of the Asian Karate Championships in Tashkent, winning eight gold medals to finish convincingly at the top of the medal table at the Sport Complex Uzbekistan.

Both individual kata titles went their way thanks to Kakeru Nishiyama and Hikaru Ono in the men's and women's finals respectively.

There they defeated Indonesian Ahmad Zigi Zaresta Yuda and Grace Lau of Hong Kong.

This feat was repeated in the team kata, with the men's trio of Arata Kinjo, Ryo Kiyuna and Takuya Uemura defeating Mohammad Al-Mosawi, Salman Al-Mosawi and Mohammad Bader.

Saori Ishibashi, Mizukami and Sae Taira won the women's crown with a win over Iranians Najmeh Ghazizadeh, Shadi Jafarizadeh and Elnaz Taghipour.

One more men's gold went to Japan in kumite events, when Kyo Hirata won against Kazakhstan's Nurniyaz Yeldashov in the men's over-81 kilogram final; while three more came in women's events.

Shiori Nakamura defeated Vietnam's Hoàng Thị Mỹ Tâm in the women's under-55kg, Kayo Someya won against Ðinh Thị Hương from Vietnam at under-68kg and Ayumi Uekusa was victorious in the women's over-68kg bout against Kazakhstan's Sofya Berultseva, the Olympic bronze medallist.

Jordan claimed four gold medals, all in men's competition. 

Omar Shaqrah defeated Kazakhstan's Nizamiddin Khalmatov in the men's under-55kg final, while Tokyo 2020 bronze medallist Abdelrahman Al-Masatfa defeated Yugo Kozaki in the under-67kg decider.

Hasan Masarweh denied Saudi Arabian Sultan Al-Zahrani a gold medal in the under-75kg category; and Mohammad Al-Jafari got the fourth title by beating Al-Zahrani's teammate Faraj Al-Nashri in the under-84kg.

Kazakhstan defeated Vietnam to claim the women's team kumite title, and their athlete Assel Kanay, won her first Asian title with a win over Kymbat Toitonova of Kyrygzstan in the women's under-61kg final.

In the lightest women's bout, the under-50kg, 2018 Asian Games champion Gu Shiau-shuang of Chinese Taipei defeated two-time world champion Miho Miyahara from Japan.

Iran won against Kazakhstan in the men's kumite team final; and Kuwait's only title came through 2018 Asian champion Abdullah Shaaban against Jordan's Abdallah Hammad in the men's under-60kg bout.
