Johannes Thingnes Bø's winning streak is over at five International Biathlon Union (IBU) World Cup races after Sturla Holm Lægreid usurped him in a 12.5 kilometres pursuit in Le Grand-Bornand.

Lægreid had just one penalty on the day and overtook Vetle Sjåstad Christiansen at the last shooting station, where two misses proved costly for Christiansen.

Lægreid crossed the line after 29min 44.1sec and Christiansen was 24.6sec back in second place.

Bø was third, 35.8sec behind Lægreid, to ensure an all-Norwegian podium.

France's Fabien Claude was fourth and another Norwegian, Filip Fjeld Andersen, completed the top five.

"It was just incredible," Lægreid said after his first win of the season.

"I came into the last shoot and knew I had to clean.

"It started happening; everything started to line up.

"I saw I had five targets after the shooting and all were right.

"So, I could have a great time."

Lægreid had finished on the podium in each of the last five races and on four occasions was second behind Bø.

The Swede shot clean and crossed the line 20.4sec before Italy's Lisa Vittozzi.

Overall leader Julia Simon was a further 26.5sec back.

The French biathlete picked up three penalties and Vittozzi two.

Norway's Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold and Italian Dorothea Wierer completed the top five.

Simon now leads Vittozzi by 39 points in the women's standings, with 396 versus 357.

In the men's standings, Lægreid has cut Bø's lead to 49.

Bø has 539 points and Lægreid 490.

Mass starts are on the schedule tomorrow at the French venue.
