Dubi noted that this ensured "we now have all venues for the Games".

FIBA officials and members of the French national team had expressed concerns over the relocation of basketball matches from the French capital to Lille.

However, the governing body said last week its Central Board had "exceptionally decided to conditionally approve such venue, pending confirmation that the FIBA requirements are met, notably those relating to the health and safety of the players and the associated risks".

It said that it had taken "the proximity of the Games and the significant joint efforts by all parties and their experts" into account.

Dubi said that a "very solid report" was provided to the IOC Executive Board at its meeting from the Paris 2024 Coordination Commission and Organising Committee.

He insisted that the IOC had a positive relationship with FIBA, and that the conditional approval represented an important step for the Games.

"We discussed about Lille, which now offers the conditions for the FIBA to have given their provisional approval of Lille, which is really, really good news," the Swiss official said.

"It means that our experts have done some excellent work in order for FIBA to be able to take this decision, and it will continue of course.

"The collaboration is a very strong and a very productive one, but this was an excellent news.

"We now have all venues for the Games."

Dubi said that he expected the venue to be finalised for Paris 2024 in the near future.

"We are very happy with where we are at today," he added.

"The teams have been working really heavily over the last few months.

"There were additional meetings today, so we can expect that the final approval should be looming pretty soon, so it was a good Friday indeed when that step was made."

Test events at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy are not scheduled until the summer of 2024, but Dubi was confident that this would mean there is "time then to produce all the refinements that are needed for the optimal conditions to ensure the safety and the wellness of the players".

The venue in Lille is set to host men's and women's group matches before the final phase is held at Bercy Arena in Paris.

The Stade Pierre-Mauroy is then set to host handball knockout matches, following the group stage at Hall Six of the Parc des Expositions at Porte Versailles.

Dubi also commended the Organising Committee after it was revealed it would submit a "balanced budget" at the Games Board of Directors meeting on December 12, describing it as a "stunning feat".
