Richarlison scored a stunning brace to help Brazil defeat a stubborn Serbia 2-0 after Portugal and Switzerland secured wins earlier.

It took 62 minutes for the Seleção to break down the Serbian resistance when the Tottenham Hotspur striker tapped in after Vanja Milinkovic-Savic saved Vinicius Junior's initial effort.

But the moment of magic came 11 minutes later when Richarlison mis-controlled a Vinicius pass before firing home Brazil’s second with an acrobatic finish.

Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo added another record to his illustrious career as he became the only player to score in five consecutive World Cups.

But Portugal did not have it easy against Ghana.

Ronaldo scored the opener from the spot after the referee awarded a soft penalty when Ghana's Southampton defender Mohammed Salisu tipped the Portuguese in the box.

While Ghana did not have a single shot in the first half, the Africans equalised after Andre Ayew scored from close range.

But two quick goals from João Félix and Rafael Leão put the Europeans in control.

Osman Bukhari headed in a late consolation for Ghana, but there was time for more drama when Portugal goalkeeper Diogo Costa put the ball down in the dying minutes unaware that Inaki Williams was behind him.

However, Williams slipped failing to take advantage of the situation as Portugal secured a crucial victory to stay top of Group H.

The day started with Switzerland earning a hard-fought win over Cameroon.

Cameroon-born Breel Embolo scored the only goal for Switzerland, shortly after halftime following a slick attacking move.

Embolo moved to Switzerland as a six-year-old and was granted citizenship in 2014.

The 25-year-old refused to celebrate after scoring the goal out of respect to his birth nation.

The Swiss struggled in the first half with Eric Choupo-Moting, Bryan Mbeumo and Martin Hongla all missing easy chances for Cameroon.

But after the opening goal, the Europeans were in control.

Andre Onana pulled off some fantastic saves to ensure the scoreline remained the same.

The second game was a dull affair that saw South Korea and Uruguay play out the fourth 0-0 draw of the Qatar 2022 World Cup so far.
