The International Boxing Association (IBA) has held a one-star coaching course in La Nucía, coinciding with the ongoing Youth Men's and Women's World Boxing Championships.

Almost 30 coaches, who came with teams competing at the Youth World Championships or arrived just for the course, participated.

The programme was structured around the schedule for the tournament, mixing theoretical lectures and workshops with daily live practice with athletes.

It included a special module dedicated to the updated IBA Technical and Competitions Rules, along with more information related to the IBA Coaches Regulations Manual.

The organisation was grateful to the Spanish Boxing Federation for allowing the course to take place.

"I'm very impressed with the level of the coaches in this course," IBA coaching instructor Gabriele Martelli said.

"All National Federations sent experienced and certified national-level coaches already coaching boxers with big results in the continental and world level, and Olympic Games.

"Also, some of them have a huge experience themselves as boxers.

"I want to congratulate all coaches on the commitment shown, as they had a pretty hard course."

More one-star courses are set to take place in 2023, with the organisation expected to expand its education programmes for ringside doctors, international technical officials and referees and judges.
