Guam's taekwondo community is looking forward to the inaugural staging of the Korean Consul's Cup.

The event on Saturday (August 13) will help celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Guam Taekwondo Center.

Two tournaments will be held - one with traditional martial arts weapons such as nunchucks and the other in speed kicking.

Around 90 people are expected to take part at the Micronesia Mall.

The Governor of Guam, Lou Leon Guerrero, will make a speech at the event.

Noly Caluag, the chief instructor of the Guam Taekwondo Center, is a sixth-degree black belt and is said to have taught taekwondo to more than 2,000 people on the Pacific island.
