Egypt's top players successfully progressed from round three today at the El Gouna International on home soil, finalising the line-up for the quarter-finals.

In the men's singles, second seed Ali Farag was victorious at the El Gouna Conference & Cultural Centre, beating Germany's Raphael Kandra 11-8, 9-11, 11-3, 11-4.

Seventh seed Marwan ElShorbagy was a clear winner earlier in the day after defeating India's Mahesh Mangaonkar 11-6, 11-6, 11-7.

Fourth seed Mostafa Asal was victorious after a mammoth 83 minutes too, defeating Joel Makin of Wales 11-7, 11-8, 6-11, 11-7.

Egypt were as successful in the women's event, with second seed Nour El Sherbini winning in straight games over Nele Gilis of Belgium 11-3, 11-2, 11-3.

Third seed Hania El Hammamy then won 11-5, 11-3, 11-8 against Malaysia's Rachel Arnold.

Seeds from elsewhere around the world progressed too, including New Zealand's fifth seed in the women's draw, Joelle King.

King defeated Olivia Fiechter from the United States 11-8, 11-9, 11-9.

Men's fifth seed Diego Elias won 6-11, 11-4, 11-8, 11-3 over France's Gregoire Marche too.

In the only contest between two unseeded players today, which was in the women's draw, Malaysian Sivasangari Subramaniam defeated Australian Donna Lobban 11-7, 11-8, 6-11, 11-8.
