Matches went with form as the men’s singles third round concluded at the French Open tennis at Roland Garros in Paris, with all the top ten seeds in action today claiming victories.

The highest seed in action on day seven in the men’s singles was second seeded Daniil Medvedev of Russia, playing as a neutral.

Medvedev continued his record of not yet dropping a set at this year’s championships, after breezing past Serbia’s Miomir Kecmanovic 6-2, 6-4, 6-2.

Fourth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece was another to make serene progress into round four, with a 6-2, 6-1, 6-1 triumph over Mikael Ymer of Sweden.

Seventh seed Andrey Rublev also advanced, albeit the Russian, playing as a neutral was pushed all the way by Cristian Garin of Chile.

Rublev triumphed 6-4, 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 in a match lasting just under three and a half hours, as he triumphed by 13 points to 11 in a marathon final set tie break.

It was not all plain sailing for the top ten seeds, with eighth seed Casper Ruud of Norway taken the distance before overcoming Italian Lorenzo Sonego 6-2, 6-7, 1-6, 6-4, 6-3 in just under three and a half hours.

Elsewhere there were straight sets wins for 11th seed Jannik Sinner of Italy who beat Mackenzie Mcdonald of the US 6-3, 7-6, 6-3, while 12th seeded Hubert Hurkacz of Poland overcame Belgium’s David Goffin 7-5, 6-2, 6-1.
