The Kyrgyzstan Teqball Federation, led by President Cholponbek Jumashukurov, has launched a new teqball club developed to engage young people through the sport.

Following the growth of teqball across the country, the club aims to provide sporting opportunities to young people in the city of Tokmok, 60 kilometres from the capital of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek.

The new club will also open the door for less fortunate communities to play teqball and benefit from the educational and social skills the sport can teach.

"I saw a great desire in the city to play teqball, learn new skills, teamwork, and true friendship," said Zhanybek Akhmatov, who is a project manager at the Kyrgyzstan Teqball Federation.

"But most of all good spirit and big potential for their future."

The Kyrgyzstan Teqball Federation, in line with the International Teqball Federation's (FITEQ) ambition for the sport, aims to contribute to healthier, more energetic and more inclusive and equitable communities.

Kyrgyzstan held its first FITEQ Challenger Cup event last year, where a total of 16 doubles teams competed in Bishkek.

The Kyrgyzstan Teqball Federation is recognised by the National Olympic Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Teqball has spread around the world and managed to attract a new generation of athletes and amateurs, whose ambition is to develop their technical skills and become the sporting stars of the future.

The sport was invented in Hungary, with FITEQ established as its governing body back in 2017.

Teqball is set to feature at the Sanya 2023 Asian Beach Games and the Kraków and Małopolska 2023 European Games, with FITEQ hoping for a possible inclusion at the Summer Olympics soon.
