Hosts United States have had a successful start to the World Cheerleading Championships in Orlando, with one more day of action to go.

They have so far been dominant in junior and youth competition, with senior events set to conclude tomorrow.

In the junior all-girl elite category, the US claimed gold in front of Finland and Sweden, and added the junior co-ed elite title in front of Thailand and Norway.

The Americans took the youth all-girl gold too as the only team in the advanced category, while England, Canada and Poland were in the top three in the median competition, a difficulty lower.

A similar result occurred in the youth co-ed advanced, which the hosts won - with Mexico and Canada finishing first and second in the median category.

In junior pom, they topped the podium, with Mexico and Slovenia joining them; and also took junior hip-hop gold from England and Mexico.

Wins came in youth pom and hip-hop too, being joined on the pom podium by Mexico and Scotland.

Scotland took the silver and Mongolia the bronze in hip-hop.

The US won all four special abilities golds too in unified, traditional, traditional freestyle pom and unified freestyle pom.

The hosts' only defeat so far has come in the adaptive abilities after Wales defeated them in the L4 co-ed category, finishing second to them on this occasion.

All senior team events are scheduled to take place tomorrow in Florida at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
