The women's draw at the All Africa Individual Badminton Championships is dominated by Egypt as the country is responsible for three of the four semi-finalists in Kampala.

Egyptian favourite Doha Hany, who is the tournament's highest-ranked player at 93rd in the world, pulled off a 19-21, 21-8, 21-14 comeback win against South Africa's Amy Ackerman in the round of 16.

The 24-year-old then breezed past Yasmina Chibah of Algeria 21-18, 21-15 to secure her place in the final four, where she will play Uganda's Husina Kobugabe.

Kobugabe, ranked 380th in the world, overwhelmed Algeria's Halla Bouksani and South African Deidre Laurens Jordaan today.

Hana Tarek Zaher and Nour Ahmed Youssri have set up an all-Egyptian battle in the other half of the bracket.

Tarek Zaher dispatched Ly-Hoa Chai of Réunion 21-8, 21-8 in the quarter-finals, following a routine 21-15, 21-11 win against Rajab Shamsa Mbira of Uganda.

Ahmed Youssri also progressed following straight-game victories against Uganda's Fadilah Shamika Mohamed Rafi and Sharifah Wanyana.

Adham Hatem Elgamal carried Egypt's good form into the men's singles, beating Kethabanetswe Godknows of Botswana 21-6, 21-5 in the round of 16 and then Mauritian Jean Bernard Bongout 21-9, 21-19 in the quarter-finals.

His compatriot Ahmed Salah, however, fell short in a quarter-final against Algerian Adel Hamek.

Hamek is set to play Nigeria's Anuoluwapo Juwon Opeyori in the next round after securing the 21-17, 21-13 win in 29 minutes.

Opeyori beat Israel Wanagalya of Uganda 18-21, 21-10, 21-11 in a 39-minute comeback.

Uganda's Brian Kasirye won 21-15, 21-19 against Algerian Youcef Sabri Medel to claim the remaining semi-final place.

He will face Elgamal tomorrow.
