Lisa DeJong, Sandrine Hamel, Alex Massie and Tyler Turner have been selected to compete at the snowboarding events for Canada at the Beijing 2022 Paralympic Games next month.

Hamel and Massie are returning members from the Pyeongchang 2018 team while DeJong and Turner will be making their debuts after bursting onto the international scene last year.

The quartet produced Canada's best-ever World Championships performance last month with a combined three golds, three silvers and two bronze medals at the World Para Snow Sports Championships in Lillehammer in Norway.

"Our Para snowboard team continues to take its place among the best in the world," said Dustin Heise, chief executive of Canada Snowboard.

"Each of the athletes has progressed through dedication and perseverance to become a medal threat in every event they enter.

"They all have incredible personalities, stories, and are amazing ambassadors for Canada, Canada Snowboard, and the values we live by.

"We couldn't be proud to have them representing Canada and showcasing to the world their talent.

"They're an inspiration and have a tremendous opportunity to make history as the first Canadian contingent to bring home a medal in Para snowboarding."

Beijing 2022 will mark the third Paralympic Games where Para snowboarding will be contested after its inclusion at Sochi 2014.

Canada is looking for its first podium finish with its best result coming in 2018 courtesy of Michelle Salt who came fourth in the women's LL1 snowboard cross.

"I am so thrilled to welcome these four incredible Para snowboarders to the team," said Josh Dueck, Chef de Mission for Canada at the Beijing 2022 Paralympics.

"Sandrine and Alex have been steady forces of success for Canada for the past several years, and are primed to build upon their first Games experience from four years ago.

"It has also been so exciting to see Lisa and Tyler find their place on the international scene so early in their careers and deservedly qualifying for their first Paralympics.

"This is a team that is ready to compete in Beijing, and I can't wait to cheer them on!"
