Hosts Bahrain will take on Tajikistan in the quarter-finals after the draw for the first Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Super Cup was held.

The new competition is being organised by the Brave Combat Federation in association with the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) and the Bahrain Mixed Martial Arts Federation.

Eight countries will compete for the title of the best country in the world, as well as the largest prize purse ever seen at an amateur MMA event.

The winners will take home $100,000 (£74,000/€87,000) with the runners-up bagging $75,000 (£55,000/€65,000) and the third-place side collecting $50,000 (£37,000/€44,000).

Khalifa Sports City Arena is set to host the competition between March 8 and 12, as part of Brave International Combat Week.

Nine fighters will be part of each team, consisting of seven men and two women.

All of these will be in a different weight class, while three substitutes are allowed per team.

Other quarter-finals will see the Russian Mixed Martial Arts Union take on Ireland and Ukraine meet the Arab champions wildcard team.

Kazakhstan will take on the Balkan champions, another wildcard.

The six confirmed countries all earned their spots through the IMMAF rankings, with fighters who competed at last month's World Championships in Abu Dhabi expected to compete at the Super Cup.

IMMAF President Kerrith Brown attended the draw alongside His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Hamad Al Khalifa and Brave CF President Mohammed Shahid.

"It's the first event of this nature, I have to thank His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Hamad Al Khalifa for his vision along with Mohammed Shahid in terms of driving this new initiative of nation vs. nation," said Brown.

"It's a concept we've always been interested in and now it is happening.

"And today it was great to see the draw in terms of the dynamics and how this will play out in terms of who will be the number one IMMAF national federation within the MMA Super Cup format."
