The 10th All Africa University Games is set to be contested from June 6 to 10 2022 at Kenyatta University in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi, after the postponement of the 2020 edition due to COVID-19.

With the support of the Federation of Africa University Sports (FASU) and the Kenyan University Sports Association (KUSA), an official invitation was sent to every university in Africa signed by the Organising Committee, FASU, KUSA and Kenyatta University.

The event has been endorsed by the International University Sports Federation which is expected to encourage member associations to attend.

"We are excited to see that the All Africa University Games are still being organised and are showing strong participation in its 10th edition," said FISU Acting President Leonz Eder.

"We trust that FASU, KUSA, Kenyatta University and the Organising Committee have been hard at work to deliver these Games at the standard they have always been.

"We wish them the best of luck with their preparations for these Games in 2022."

The All Africa University Games, also known as the FASU Games, is organised once every two years with nine editions having been held already, with the first in 1975.

The format of participation at the Games has changed from national university teams to individual universities since the eighth edition at Johannesburg, South Africa, in 2016.

The upcoming event will mark the third time that Kenya has played host after the capital staged the 1979 and 2014 competitions.

More than 4,000 athletes are expected to take part.
