The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the nominees for the men’s and women’s player of the month awards for June.

Introduced at the start of the year, the ICC Player of the Month awards is designed to recognise the best performances across all formats by male and female cricketers.

The three nominations for the men’s award are New Zealanders Devon Conway and Kyle Jamieson and South Africa’s Quinton de Kock.

Conway scored a double century on his Test debut for New Zealand last month and ended the month with a total of 379 runs at an average of 63.16.

His compatriot Jamieson was named player of the match in the ICC World Test Championship Final and ended the month with 10 wickets at an average of 17.40.

Meanwhile de Kock was named player of the series for South Africa against the West Indies scoring a total of 237 runs across two Tests at an average of 118.50.

The three nominees for the women’s award are England’s Sophie Ecclestone and Indian pairing Sneh Rana and Shafali Verma.

Ecclestone was the top bowler in the one-off Test against India, finishing with figures of 8-206.

India’s nominees were also recognised for their performances in the match, with Rana scoring 80 runs and taking four wickets on her Test debut to help her country earn a draw.

Verma was named as player of the match in the Test at Bristol, England, scoring 96 and 63 as she became the first Indian woman and fourth ever to make half-centuries in both innings of a debut Test.

Fans can vote through the ICC website, with the winner decided by a combination of fan votes and those by members of the ICC Voting Academy, which includes journalists, broadcasters and former players.

 The winners of the votes are due to be announced on Monday (July 12).
