A new course which explains the basics of Baseball5 has been launched across multiple platforms.

Seven lessons are included as part of the course which is part of the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Academy.

They are available on platforms including the WBSC website and the WBSC Baseball5 Instagram account.

Lessons range from 21 to 42 minutes long with the first covering the difference between Baseball5 and baseball and how to set up the field.

The second lesson covers the rulebook while the third is about officials.

Scoring, defence, pre-game, hitting techniques, practice sessions and game strategy are other topics which are covered.

Baseball5 is an smaller variant of baseball being championed by the WBSC.

Five-inning games are played with five active players per team, and as only a rubber ball is needed it brings baseball to previously inaccessible areas.

Any playing surface can be utilised and no pitcher is needed, with hitting done by hand.

Baseball5 has been added to the programme for the 2026 Summer Youth Olympic Games in Dakar in Senegal, and the WBSC has launched World Cups for the discipline.
