The International Orienteering Federation (IOF) has organised a digital high-level event seminar, which attracted 120 participants.

It was the 13th high-level event seminar conducted by the IOF, but the first to take place virtually.

The seminar was aimed at appointed organisers, potential future organisers and key figures involved in IOF high-level events, including IOF senior event advisers and assistant senior event advisers.

Such meetings usually attract 60 attendees, but the digital format of the event allowed for 120 participants from 35 countries.

All four orienteering disciplines were represented.

IOF President Leho Haldna opened the seminar, which included 14 short videos.

The postponement of the World Orienteering Championships and skyrunning was among the topics discussed, with Swiss multiple orienteering world champion Daniel Hubmann giving a presentation on how athletes have coped during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"It was interesting to reach out to new people, while maintaining our traditional audience," said IOF Foot Orienteering Commission chair Áron Less.

"We will consider how we can improve the high level event seminar for the future."
