Mark Jones, who left the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) earlier this year after ten years working for the organisation's communications team, has announced he is setting up a new consultancy agency.

Agado Communications will specialise in communications consultancy and Jones says his new agency is already working with professional leagues and Olympic organisations.

Jones joined the USOPC in 2010 as a director of communications, before moving on to the roles of senior director of communications, vice-president of communications and latterly vice-president of communications and marketing.

In a departing message when he left the USOPC in February, Jones reflected on a tenure that saw him cover a total of eight Olympics, Paralympics and Pan American Games, saying it had been a "privilege" to watch and tell the stories of many great athletes.

Jones admitted he had done a lot of "reflection and soul-searching" during the coronavirus pandemic and decided to "take a shot and start working for myself."

In a message to introduce his new venture Jones said: "One client became two, two became three, three became four and Agado Communications is born, with gratitude to so many friends and colleagues from around the world that have offered advice, encouragement and opportunities."

Although some of the clients Agado Communications are working with are confidential, Jones said the company was already working with organisations including the National Women's Soccer League and Major League Lacrosse.
