South Korea's Mirim Lee secured her first major title after winning a three-way play-off on a dramatic final day of the ANA Inspiration.

Lee birdied the first extra hole to see off American Nelly Korda and Canada's Brooke Henderson at Mission Hills Country Club in California.

A play-off was needed to separate the three players after they completed their four rounds on 15-under-par.

Lee shot a five-under 67 in her last round to end the tournament level with overnight leaders Korda and Henderson.

Tied for third going into the final round, Lee produced a superb display – including three chip-ins and an eagle on the 18th – to put herself in contention for the title, although a bogey on the 17th had dented her chances.

The world number 94 held her nerve in a tense play-off to seal her first victory at one of the five women's golf majors.

"I just told myself to finish this quickly," said Lee.

The tournament was held in a bubble and without fans due to the coronavirus pandemic.
