Reigning women's featherweight world champion Nesthy Petecio powered through to the quarter-finals on day two of the Asia-Oceania Olympic boxing qualifier in Amman.

The Filipino fighter proved to be far too strong for Sri Lanka's Krismi Lankapurayalage in Jordan's capital, as she controlled the contest and won here by unanimous decision.

With all four semi-finalists in the women's featherweight qualifying for Tokyo 2020, Petecio is just one victory away.

The top seed said she expected more from herself, however.

"I am not satisfied because I felt heavy out there," she said.

"Maybe it is because it is my first fight but I felt I wasn't at my best so I will improve for my next fight."

Other winners today at Prince Hamzah Hall included Indonesia's Aldoms Suguro who got the better of Pakistan's Muhammad Asif in the men's flyweight.

That has set-up a second-round clash with Uzbekistan's reigning Olympic gold medallist and world champion Shakhobidin Zoirov.

Thailand enjoyed a strong day with a hat-trick of victories, including Sudaporn Seesondee's upset win over China's world silver medallist Wenlu Yang in the women's lightweight.

Thitisan Panmot dominated Bhutan's Tashi Wangdi in the men's flyweight and Wuttichai Masuk ousted South Korea's Hyunchul Lim in the men's welterweight.
