Italy's world number one Alessio Foconi will bid for home gold at the International Fencing Federation (FIE) Grand Prix in men's foil.

The event begins tomorrow at Pala Alpitour with top names descending on the city to compete.

Two FIE World Cups, the level below Grand Prix, will also get underway tomorrow.

A men's épée event will begin in Vancouver and a women's épée competition will start in Barcelona.

France's world number two Enzo Lefort and Italy's world number three Daniele Garozzo will be among the challengers for Foconi, a three-time world champion, in Turin.

Lefort won gold at last year's World Championships in Budapest, while Garozzo is the reigning Olympic champion.

The Vancouver World Cup will take place at Richmond Olympic Oval in the Canadian city.

Russia's world number one Sergey Bida will compete, alongside Italy's world number two Andrea Santarelli.

Hungary's Gergely Siklósi, the world number three who won home World Championship gold in Budapest, is also on the start-list, while South Korea's reigning Olympic champion Park Sang-young adds to a stellar field.

In Barcelona, action will be held at the Spanish city's INEFC venue.

Romania's world number one Ana Maria Popescu will see action and will face competition from China's world number two Sheng Lin.

World number three Man Wai Vivian Kong will represent Hong Kong, while Brazilian world champion Nathalie Moellhausen will be another contender.
