Vinzenz Geiger overcame Norwegian rival Jarl Magnus Riiber at the International Ski Federation (FIS) Nordic Combined World Cup event in the Italian resort of Val di Fiemme.

The German had finished second behind Riiber in yesterday's event, but today managed to triumph in the HS104/10 kilometre competition.

He impressed with a jump distance of 97.0 metres, before crossing the finish line in 26min 20.8sec.

Riiber was just 0.4 seconds off the mark, while fellow Norwegian, Joergen Graabak, was third in 26:21.4.

The next World Cup event is scheduled for January 24 to 26 in the German town of Oberstdorf.
