The National Olympic Committee (NOC) of the Republic of Belarus has hosted sports industry specialists, discussing the work of the federations and sustained development.

NOC vice-president Dmitry Dovgalenok and Executive Committee member Valentin Borovok were there to welcome and engage with seminar participants.

"The representatives of the sports federations got answers to many questions: the legal aspects, relations with the media, working with volunteers," Borovok, who is also chairman of the committee for work with sports federations, said.

"After conducting several large-scale international sports forums, Belarus has some experience in this area which is worth sharing and using in the future."

The seminar discussed financial management and the use of foreign donations transmitted to public organisations.

Sports federation representatives also spoke about drawing contracts with young athletes and parents, while the issue of training sports managers is one of great urgency.

Also on the table was the topic of cooperation between federations and mass media and training of prospective sports participants.

Representatives of the 2nd European Games and the Belarusian Tennis Association shared their experiences in attracting fans through social media, while the management-director of sports channel Belarus 5 spoke about how to build the relationship with TV and ensure proper sports media coverage.

The head of the department of marketing and PR for JSC “Belgazprombank”, Yuri Karpitskiy, relayed his experiences of establishing the relationships of the federations and clubs with prospective partners and sponsors.

A national experimental project on the selection of gifted children for sports, "Olympic talent", was also presented jointly by Presidential Sports Club and Belarusian Triathlon Federation.

"We tried to organize a seminar useful for specialists from different sports fields," said the Belarusian NOC executive committee member and chairman of the "Sports and sustained development" committee, Anton Yuspa.

"Many issues were touched upon and I'm sure the seminar is of practical use to the sports federations."
